Micro Armored MPO Patch Cord & Trunk Cable

High-Density Micro Armored MPO Patch Cord & Trunk Cable

HHD Fiber supplies micro armored MPO cable assemblies for pre-terminated multifiber connections between cabinets, patch panels and equipment. A flexible stainless steel tube beneath the outer jacket provides additional protection for the internal fibers.
The cable can be configured around the required fiber type, fiber count, connector format and installation space. Send us your equipment or cassette specifications if you need help defining the assembly.

Connector format matters as well as fiber count. A 16-fiber connector must match the corresponding equipment interface. We confirm connector format, pin configuration and fiber mapping before production.
Flexible Stainless Steel Protection
The internal stainless steel tube adds mechanical protection while allowing a compact cable design. The outer jacket covers the armor and is selected for the installation requirements.

Use the specified installation and static bend radii when routing the cable. Avoid pulling through connector housings or treating cable armor as a guarantee against unrestricted crushing, sharp bending or excessive tension.
Optical Performance and Factory Inspection
Single-mode APC and multimode MPO assemblies have separate insertion-loss and return-loss specifications. Standard-loss and reduced-loss options are selected according to the required connector configuration and link budget.

Pre-terminated assemblies are inspected and optically tested before shipment. Inspection and test documentation are agreed according to the product and project requirements. These may include:
- Connector end-face inspection
- Optical continuity and insertion-loss testing
- Return-loss testing as specified
- Connector configuration and polarity checks
- Cable appearance, length and label verification
Request the datasheet and test-document requirements for your selected configuration.
Custom Lengths, Labels and Assembly Details
HHD Fiber supports project quantities, small-batch production and OEM requirements. Specify overall length, fiber type, connector requirements, jacket, cable IDs and packaging.
For a fanout or transition assembly, include the required breakout length and connector at each branch. The drawing, dimensional tolerances and delivery schedule are confirmed before the order is placed.

Applications and Cabling Challenges

As fiber links increase in data centers and AI computing facilities, cabinets and patch panels can become crowded with individual connections. A pre-terminated MPO assembly brings multiple fibers into one compact connector, helping teams organize high-density links and reduce the number of separate connectors they need to manage.
HHD Fiber’s micro armored MPO patch cord adds a flexible stainless steel protective tube beneath the jacket. It is designed for protected installations where compact routing and additional mechanical protection are both important.
Where This Assembly Fits
- Data centers and AI computing facilities:Multifiber links between cabinets, patch panels and compatible network equipment.
- High-density switch connections:MPO-to-MPO links where the transceiver ports and complete link design call for an MPO interface.
- MPO-to-LC transitions: An MPO trunk can connect to a compatible cassette or breakout assembly when the equipment side requires individual LC ports.
- Equipment rooms: Pre-terminated links with defined fiber counts, cable lengths, labels and polarity.

What to Confirm Before Ordering

An MPO connector alone does not determine whether a link will work. Match the fiber type, connector format, pin configuration, polarity and optical budget to the transceivers and cassettes at both ends. Send us the equipment models or a connection drawing if you need help defining the assembly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an armored fiber patch lead the same as a patch cord?

Patch lead and patch cord are common terms for a connectorized fiber assembly. Armoured fibre patch lead is a common UK expression. For ordering, specify the actual connectors, fiber type, fiber count and length.

What is the difference between MPO and MTP®?

MPO describes a multifiber connector interface. MTP® is US Conec’s branded MPO connector. For an MPO/MTP armored cable project, state any connector-brand requirement in your inquiry. The exact brand and availability will be confirmed in the quotation.

How do I choose polarity and connector gender?

Select the fiber mapping and male/female configuration to match the complete link, including transceivers, adapters and cassettes. Mating connectors require the correct pinned/unpinned combination. Send us your equipment specifications or connection drawing for configuration review.

Can I order custom lengths and fiber counts?

Yes. Specify the overall assembly length, fiber count, connector format and quantity. Required length tolerances and the final cable construction are agreed before production.

Does the cable support 40G, 100G or 400G?

Suitability depends on the transceiver interface, fiber type, connector format, polarity, link length and optical budget. The cable should be selected for the particular equipment and link design.

Can this cable be used outdoors?

Outdoor suitability depends on the complete cable construction and connector protection. Tell us about moisture, sunlight exposure and handling requirements so a suitable assembly can be recommended. Metal armor alone does not establish weather resistance or a waterproof rating. For outdoor applications, explore our 24-core TPU armored MPO trunk cable, designed for temporary field links and repeated deployment.

Are test reports available?

Test documentation can be provided according to the agreed assembly and project requirements. Include any required per-fiber optical data, polarity records or inspection documentation in your inquiry.
